Harry Potter Playroom

Client Project and scope: To design a Harry Potter themed playroom.

Blibbering Humdinger or the Crumple-Horned Snorkack!”spells … spells

Quote. “I mean, it’s sort of exciting, isn’t it, breaking the rules?” - This well known line from Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is applicable to how I felt with this exciting home décor project. A complete revamp for this ground floor playroom was a delight to design and work on.

Harry Potter chest of drawers created by Tracey Andrews Interiors

The Hogwarts Library which was located off a corridor on the first-floor of Hogwarts Castle became the inspiration for this room. It contained tens of thousands of books on thousands of shelves. We located a second hand chest of drawers and painted each drawer as individual suitcases, and purchased art associated with spells and quid-itch. Exchanging MDF white desks for vintage school desks located from a local reclaimed centre and finished off with themed lighting.

So what were the chances of being able to conjure up an inspired Harry Potter themed room and given license to apply pure creativity? Quite slim. I was thrilled for the opportunity and enjoyed every moment of its development.
